On March 8, 2024, the second plenary session of the 14th National People's Congress was held, and the President of Supreme People's Court, Zhang Jun, delivered a work report about Supreme People's Court. A foreign-related ship collision case handled by Ningbo Maritime Court was wrote in the work report. This case occurred at a port in Indonesia, and under the circumstance in which other countries’courts also had jurisdiction on the case, both parties unanimously chose to submit the dispute to the jurisdiction of Ningbo Maritime Court.

During the trial, Ningbo Maritime Court fully utilized the role of mediation as an "Eastern experience" and successfully facilitated a settlement between the two parties. The defendant, a shipping company from Panama, fully paid a compensation of 1.25 million US dollars. Supreme Court affirmed that this case demonstrated the superiority and authority of China's mediation system to the international community, fully demonstrating the influence of China's maritime justice.
